Wesley Barrett is the Safety Specialist for the City of Alachua. He is responsible for staff safety training, support materials, promoting a safe work environment, personal/property investigations, organizing staff CPR training, Active Violence training and trauma training. He also holds monthly safety meetings.

Barrett encourages health and wellness for all City staff through organized wellness programs, interaction with the City’s health partners, webinars and other communications.

Barrett has been with the City of Alachua for more than two years, and he brings 35 years of experience to the position. Before coming to the City of Alachua, he gained broad experience as both a Training Director for a healthcare organization and a Regional Safety Director for higher education in the Southeast. Barrett holds various certifications, including a current CPR/Instructor certification through the American Heart Association and a Stop the Bleed/Instructor certification through the American College of Surgeons. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Southern Mississippi.
