Requesting Records

E-mail Print PDF

The City of Alachua provides access to public records in accordance with State law and in the spirit of Government in the Sunshine.

Any person can request a public record from us, whether in their name or anonymously. The requested records will be provided in a reasonable time, and some requests may incur nominal printing or labor charges, depending on the volume or nature of the records.

Requests can be made in person, in writing, by email or by phone.

Please be advised that the City will provide existing records, but cannot (nor does the law madate) creating a record from other records. For example, we can provide a list of utility customers, but cannot break it down into specific categories on another list or format; that is the responsibility of the requestor.

To read and search Chapter 119, Florida Statutes, which is the governing law for public records, go to this link: Chapter 119.
