For businesses seeking to locate within the City of Alachua, an application for Local Business Tax (formerly occupational license) will need to be completed. Prospective businesses must complete the Local Business Tax application along with the Certificate of Land Development Regulations Compliance application. Please note that prospective businesses are encouraged to obtain land use and zoning information through the Planning & Zoning Department prior to placing a business within the City of Alachua to guarantee that the business is compatible with the regulations of the City.
Completed applications can be turned in to the City of Alachua along with the following items:
- A copy of your Driver’s License
- A copy of your fictitious name certification from the State of Florida.
- A copy of your signed lease agreement and authorization from the property
- owner, if you do not own the property
- A copy of your State license, if you are required to be licensed with the State
- If you are a General Contractor, we must have proof of liability insurance and
- worker’s compensation or proof of exemption from worker’s compensation
- LDR compliance application fees ($25.00) due upon submittal of application
- Business Tax Receipt fees shall be due upon approval of your Local Business
- Tax Checks should be made payable to: City of Alachua.
