Where:
Alachua City Hall, James A. Lewis Commission Chambers (15100 NW 142nd Ter.)
Road Segment to be Discussed:

Background: The City of Alachua City Commission approved funding for road resurfacing projects in its Fiscal Year 2011-2012 budget. The City’s Public Services staff maintains a log of road segments, prioritizes the road segments based on need, and then initiates plans to resurface the road segments with the highest priority. The subject road segment is planned to undergo modifications and resurfacing this fiscal year.
In general, the modifications are intended to restore the road segment to the condition in which it was initially constructed. The projects typically do not include improvements such as sidewalks, curb & gutter, stormwater inlets and piping, architectural street lighting, or landscaping. The projects typically provide the following:
Repair of damaged asphalt
1.25” asphalt overlay of the existing driving surfacing
One (1) concrete or asphalt driveway connections for properties with existing structures
Re-establishment of the drainage conveyance systems (grassed swales, valley curbing, etc.)
Replacement of existing traffic signs
Roadway striping
Removal of unsafe or unsuitable vegetation from right of way
Grassing of non-paved areas in right of way
Upgrade of existing utilities within the right of way
The City has scheduled a Neighborhood Meeting at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2012 to review the project and its impact in on the immediate neighbors and surrounding community. The meeting will be held in the James A. Lewis Commission Chambers at City Hall. All affected residents and property owners are invited to attend and participate in the meeting. Staff will have concept drawings identifying proposed modifications. Staff will explain the project scope, receive comments / feedback, and respond to your questions. If you are unable to attend the meeting and wish to learn more about the project, please contact the Public Services Department to schedule a meeting with staff.
