Mayor Coerper has been a resident and homeowner in Alachua since 1974.  He is an active member in the Alachua Chamber of Commerce where he serves as Shop-Dine-Stroll Chairman.  He is a member of the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council (1999-2002, 2005-present).  He served as Chairman of the 2002 I-75 Landscaping Enhancement Project and was a member of the U.S. 441 Highway Beautification Committee.

Coerper is a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Keep Alachua County Beautiful.  He served as Santa Fe High School boys soccer Booster President 1992-1998.  He served on the Alachua County Planning & Visioning Committee for five years.  He is also an active member in the Alachua Lions Club and is the Executive Board Chairman for the Heart of Florida.  He is an active member in the “Success by 6” campaign of Alachua Elementary School.  He is also a member of the Alachua Historical Society and is a U.S. Navy veteran.
