The Alachua Police Department is adding another tool to their toolbox for the citizens of the ‘Good Life Community’. Residents can now view a website to see what is happening in their neighborhood, throughout the city, or even the entire county. The Alachua Police Department, along with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, High Springs Police Department, Gainesville Police Department, University of Florida Police Department and the Waldo Police Department are now showing calls for service on; www.crimereports.com.
Citizens can access the website and view activity in the entire City of Alachua down to their block. The website will provide the event location down to the block and street, time of the incident, and the type of call. Citizens will be able to create a user account to receive notices ranging from every week to once a month.
The Alachua Police Department wants citizens to be aware of what is happening in their neighborhoods. We believe that it is incumbent upon us to keep our citizens informed of what is transpiring in the community, so that they will be more in tune with their surroundings. Citizens play an important role in law enforcement’s efforts to decrease crime – this is only part of our multi-faceted approach.
